BST Hyde Park continues its packed lineup this summer with Duran Duran headlining a star-studded evening of old-school artists. People of all ages showed up at Hyde Park, with the majority rocking Duran Duran merch. Nile Rodgers & CHIC kicked things off with old-school classics like "Le Freak" and "Let's Dance," alongside his notable collaborations. Nile also brought out Duran Duran's bassist, John Taylor, to close out the set together.
We checked out SOPHIE GREY. at the Rainbow Stage afterwards, good electronic stuff, and she clearly has her style on point. The highlight was the cover of “Video Killed the Radio Star.” Back at the Great Oak stage, Scissor Sisters brought the energy, filling out the production front. They also brought out Melanie C, who was DJing another set on the same day, to perform together.
SISTRA at the Birdcage Stage was another act we caught, since their performance at KOKO, they just keep getting better, and we're looking forward to their headline set in Shoreditch this September.
The headline set from Duran Duran, of course, did not disappoint, with so many staple hits
including "Ordinary World," dedicated to the England football team. They also brought out Nile Rodgers to perform "Notorious" and "Free To Love" together. They ended the night with their 80s classic "Rio," closing out an energetic weekend that brought people from old and new generations together. For older fans, it was a nostalgic trip down memory lane; for the newer generation, it's another great story to tell, the fact that they got to witness an incredible performance from a legendary band.
